What is this stream credential about?

    • Human factors and ergonomics: This course explores how human-centered design, ergonomics, and behavioral science can improve lab safety and performance. Learners will analyze and redesign work environments, tasks, and systems to reduce injuries, support cognitive performance, and build a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Lab design, renovation, and space use: Effective lab environments start with thoughtful design. This course covers how to plan, renovate, and optimize lab spaces with prevention-through-design (PtD) principles, risk management strategies, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring safe and efficient lab operations both now and into the future.
    • Relations and the environment: Lab safety goes beyond equipment and protocols—it depends on positive relationships and responsible stewardship. This course will show how to build trust within the lab team, collaborate with the community, engage regulators, and meet environmental obligations to protect people and the planet.
    • Emergency preparedness and response: When emergencies strike, preparation is key. This course empowers lab professionals to assess risks, develop emergency plans, build partnerships with emergency responders, and train staff to act confidently and effectively to protect lives, property, and science.
